Feminists are anti-marriage
A common misconception about feminists is that they are collectively anti-marriage. Of course, this is absolutely not true. While feminists certainly fight for the rights of women to have autonomy in their relationships, they also push for the right of everyone to marry if he or she chooses to.
Feminists primarily care about abortion
To identify as a feminist, one usually believes in full body autonomy, abortion is simply a part of the fight for reproductive justice, the right to have children as well as the right to not have children.
All feminists agree
Just like most things in life, not everyone agrees 100% of the time, and so it is among feminists. Diversity of opinions within feminism is the norm, not the exception. Debate among feminists is important because usually the best solutions come from honesty and discourse ignited by respectful disagreement.
Feminism hurts men
Feminism helps men, end of story. Feminism is about equal right for both men and women. Not only does feminism work to free men from the pressures of having to uphold unhealthy standards of masculinity, but it also allows men express themselves freely in any way they choose.
Feminists are only women
If you haven’t noticed, more and more men in the public eye are coming forward and supporting feminism, like Joseph Gordon-Levitt for example! The importance of men supporting women and women supporting men is vital when it comes to tearing down patriarchy. Although it is more common to hear about women feminists, it does not mean only women can support feminism.
